Europe Economic Weekly Recovery and rebalancing challenges
BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research - Viernes, 11 de AbrilThe weekly view: Stars aligning but very slowly We warn QE "the ECB way" might not be exactly what markets expect, but is necessary for growth and inflation in light of on-going fiscal adjustment. Euro area: Rebalancing through imports in the periphery? We argue the net export stimulus to GDP in the periphery will slow as investment picks up, a phenomenon that is underestimated by most forecasts in our view.
UK: Spare capacity narrowing further
Surveys suggest there is scant spare capacity left in the UK economy - contrasting with signals from the unemployment rate and the BoE's views.
Peripheral watch: Italy building credibility
The first budget presented by the Renzi government reaffirms a strong commitment to fiscal prudence. Funding costs in the public and private sectors have fallen in nominal terms, but remain high in real terms.
The week ahead:
Next week, we expect German ZEW survey to continue to remain strong and reflect the upward momentum. We see only small risks of downward revisions for EA inflation, even though data for France and Netherlands disappointed.
